Samuel D. Blatt
March 6, 1933  --  March 14, 2024


BlattSam 140907     Our brother in faith, Samuel D. Blatt, 91, formerly of Robesonia, passed away on Thursday, March 14, 2024 at Berks Heim.

 

     His wife of 56 years, Barbara A. (Miller) Blatt passed away on February 24, 2021. They were married on July 11, 1964.

 

     He was born in Dauberville, on March 6, 1933 a son of the late Evan D. and Leah (Behney) Blatt.

 

     Sam worked at Glen Gery Brick Plant and then retired from the Wernersville State Hospital and also worked as a custodian at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Robesonia (now United Church of Christ of Robesonia), he retired from there to spend time with his loving wife. He had also previously worked for Lentz Milling.

 

Blatt SamBarb_171024     He and his late wife Barbara were active members of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, Robesonia.

 

     He was a member of the AFSCME Chapter 8803 Retirees group. Sam enjoyed watching NASCAR races, little league baseball, college softball, and listening to the older country music, especially Reba McEntire. He was an avid “Ford” man, and also enjoyed bowling at Berks Lanes with a league for many years.

 

     Sam is survived by a daughter, Deborah A. wife of Earl L. Snyder, Sr.; two grandsons, Earl L. Snyder, Jr. and Samuel J. Snyder husband of Bethany; and two great granddaughters, Mae Cecilia Snyder and Stella Jean Snyder, which he loved dearly….everytime he watched them play he had a big smile on his face. He also has a son from a previous marriage, Johnny L. Blatt. 

 

     He is also survived by a sister in law, Carolyn Hausman wife of Karl Hausman;  two nieces, Karli Hausman wife of Christina and Roberta Lee wife of Ian Moran; three great nephews, Ewan, Leo, and Cal; a great niece, Kendalyn. Also one surviving sibling, Helen, out of 10 siblings; and many nieces & nephews on the Blatt side.

 

     Burial will be private at Pleasant View Cemetery, with the Rev. Dr. Benjamin D. Motz officiating.  Cole Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Robesonia is handling arrangements.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his memory to United Church Christ of Robesonia, 301 West Penn Avenue, Robesonia, PA 19551.
